Megan Hoffman on Adding the Nurse's Voice to Pharmacogenomics

By Megan Hoffman, MSN, RN, CMSRN, AOCNS
PUBLISHED THURSDAY, JANUARY 1, 1970

Megan Hoffman, MSN, RN, CMSRN, AOCNS, of Moffitt Cancer Center, discusses the nurse’s perspective that she brings to the Clinical Genomic Action Committee (CGAC) at her center.

Many members of the CGAC work mainly behind the scenes and often never see patients. As the nurse member, Hoffman brought patient concerns such as quality of life issues and family concerns into the discussion. This helped the board narrow options based on the feasibility and truly make a wholly individualized recommendation.
