Mary S. McCabe, RN, MA, director, Survivorship Center, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, discusses an evaluation of nurse practitioner-led survivorship care.

This analysis, presented at the 2016 ASCO Annual Meeting, looked at a model of care for patients with adult-onset cancers. The goal of the study was to show that at the appropriate time, post-treatment care could be transitioned to a nurse practitioner or a nurse practitioner group with expertise in survivorship care.

McCabe says it is crucial that comprehensive care is delivered and that it is affordable.
