Rebecca Lehto, PhD, RN, OCN, Assistant Professor, College of Nursing, Michigan State University, discusses mindfulness strategies for patients with cancer.

Mindfulness strategies help patients to better regulate their responses to mental or physical symptoms that they may be experiencing. By gaining that self-awareness, patients can build their capacity to manage what they are facing.

There are several different practices, including meditation, which are aimed at helping patients to build a more accepting relationship to current and future challenges.
