Kathy Wilkinson, RN, BSN, OCN, Manager, Cancer Research, Billings Clinic Cancer Center, discusses the role that nurses play in clinical trials.

Wilkinson says a nurse’s relationship with a patient puts them in a prime position to talk about clinical trials. Nurses can educate patients about clinical trials and explain concepts to patients in terms that they can understand. Wilkinson says patients trust nurses to give them accurate information about what the trial is going to entail, including potential side effects.
