Providing One-to-One Support After Breast Cancer Diagnosis

Article

Taking the breast cancer journey with someone who's been "in your shoes"

After Breast Cancer Diagnosis (ABCD) was founded in 1999 by Emmy Award—winning journalist Melodie Wilson Oldenburg. Created by women who have experienced breast cancer themselves, ABCD provides free, personalized information and one-to-one support to those affected by breast cancer—patients, their families, and friends. Trained and professionally supported volunteer survivors and co-survivors help those who are battling breast cancer—from the newly diagnosed to those in treatment and beyond. While research continues to search for a cure, ABCD focuses on those who are currently taking the breast cancer journey.

Personalized support is available through ABCD’s:

  • Breast Cancer Helpline—immediate support from breast cancer survivors, Helpline Mentors
  • One-to-One Mentor—individualized matches from Match Mentors

For support and more information contact 800-977-4121 Monday through Friday 8 AM to 9 PM CST, Saturday 8 AM to 2 PM CST or helpline@abcdmentor.org
