The Kidney Cancer Association (KCA) is a charitable organization made up of patients, family members, physicians, researchers, and other health professionals globally. It is the world’s first international charity dedicated specifically to the eradication of death and suffering from renal cancers. It is also by far the largest organization of its kind, with members in more than 100 countries.

KCA funds, promotes, and collaborates with the National Cancer Institute (NCI), American Society for Clinical Oncology (ASCO), American Urological Association (AUA), and other institutions on research projects. It educates families and physicians, and serve as an advocate on behalf of patients at the state and federal levels in the United States and globally.

Nursing-Hotline for Patients

KCA recognizes the unique and important role that oncology nurses play in providing care for cancer patients and assistance to their families and caregivers. Among KCA resources for patients is the Nurse Hotline, which may be reached by telephone Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Eastern) or by email. The hotline can be accessed at 1-503-215-7921 or by sending an email to:

kidneycancernurse@providence.org

The hotline nurses answer questions about the treatment of kidney cancer, including the management of side effects from therapies for advanced disease. If the nursing is helping someone else when you call, please leave a message, including the best time to return your call. Outside the continental US, email is preferred. They also provide referrals to expert physicians.

As a part of its partnership with Oncology Nursing News, KCA will provide targeted information for kidney cancer patients at this site, starting this fall. To learn more, please visit http://www.kidneycancer.org/.
