Team Approach Improves Care in Patients Receiving Concurrent Therapy

DOROTHY ABSHIRE, BSN, BA, RN, OCN | April 12, 2019

Multidisciplinary teams can improve care in patients with cancer who are receiving concurrent therapy, explained Dorothy Abshire, BSN, BA, RN, OCN.

Abshire, a nurse at Baylor Scott and White McClinton Cancer Center, comprised a multidisciplinary team of infusion nurses, chemotherapy nurses, physicians, and others, to meet each week and discuss all patients who have concurrent therapy. This helps to ensure that appointments are made, patients are getting their treatments on time, and that their lab work appointments are also being made and met appropriately.
