Michelle Lyn on the Role of the Multidisciplinary Advanced Practice Nurse

By Michelle Lyn, AGPCNP
PUBLISHED WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 31, 1969

Michelle Lyn, AGPCNP, of Tisch Cancer Institute at Mount Sinai Medical Center, addresses the workforce shortage and how implementing a multidisciplinary advanced practice nurse can help.

Many institutions are suffering from workforce shortages because of multiple factors, such as a growing population of cancer survivors. At Mount Sinai, a multidisciplinary advanced practice nurse was assigned to address this need. The advanced practice nurse was assigned to a specialty oncology clinic and took on patients there, taking history, assigning chemotherapy, and whatever else might be needed.
