Arvind Shinde on Using Fitness Trackers to Monitor Patients With Cancer

ARVIND SHINDE, MD, MBA, MPH
Wednesday, September 07, 2016

Arvind Shinde, MD, MBA, MPH, assistant clinical professor at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, discusses the potential benefits of monitoring patients with fitness trackers.

A patient’s functionality is often considered when creating a treatment plan, though clinicians have no accurate way of monitoring and measuring the functionality of the patient on a day-to-day basis. Fitness trackers log information such as activity, heart rate and sleep, which can give care providers a better idea of how the patient is doing and if he or she is in distress.
