Go on the Offensive Against Colorectal Cancer

THOMAS WEBER, MD, FACS
Thursday, October 18, 2018

Thomas Weber, MD, FACS, founder and president of the Colon Cancer Foundation, warns nurses and other clinicians to be alert to the symptoms of colorectal cancer, and urges them to become invested in their opportunities to combat the upward trend in its incidence and consequences.

Nurses are “exquisitely positioned,” he says, to increase awareness of the steps needed to improve statistics around colon cancer and rectal cancer in their institutions, from symptom recognition to diagnosis, to assistance with fertility preservation, to advancing a scientific platform that can help identify the true drivers of the trend.
