Great men and women are forged through fire, so people who are passionate about health care should not put a nursing degree on hold because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has changed educational institutions nationwide. Now, many nursing schools have switched to a virtual format.
While online learning may bring about some challenges, Jann Budiman, BSN, RN, BMTCN, said that people should still pursue a nursing degree or higher nursing education. Now, more than ever, nurses are needed.
I feel like we definitely are living through history, and there's going to be some apprehension going back [to school]. But I wouldn't necessarily put a dream on hold if it's something you've been thinking about pursuing. Now is the time. I wouldn't put a calling on hold.
Now more than ever we'll probably be needing more nurses and people who are passionate... There are trials, but it will bring the best out of anyone. As they say, great men and women are forged through fire. That's my philosophy on that.
