Gary Shelton, PhD, coordinator of supportive oncology services at NYU Perlmutter Cancer Center, discusses reimbursement for palliative care.

There are codes dedicated for certain palliative services, such as symptom management and discussing advanced directives or goals of care. Insurance companies do often cover these services. Additionally, if a patient is receiving palliative care while seeing another provider, the service can be added on.
