Video

Dr. Puneeth Iyengar expresses the importance of nutrition and hydration for patients with stage III lung cancer.

Puneeth Iyengar, MD, PhD, assistant professor of Radiation Oncology at UT Southwestern Medical Center, explains the importance of nutrition and hydration for patients with stage III lung cancer.

For patients with stage III lung cancer, Iyengar stresses adequate nutrition and caloric intake but, even moreso, hydration. If hydration isn’t maintained, a patient can become run down and the chance of constipation, which could be exacerbated by narcotics, is increased.
