Jean Sellers, RN, MSN, administrative clinical director, UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, discusses how to be a successful oncology nurse navigator.

Sellers emphasized that it is crucial for nurse navigators to not only practice at the top of their license as trained oncology nurses, but also to go a step beyond. Navigators must practice “outside their license,” not in the clinical sense, but in other realms, such as communication and confidence to address these new roles.
