Davies says many of the treatments being developed and tested are immunotherapies. These therapies bring with them a new constellation of possible side effects and symptoms that are very different than the standard chemotherapy side effects nurses are used to.
It is important to educate nurses and primary care physicians, Davies says, but this continues to be a challenge.
