Jame Abraham, MD, Director of the Breast Oncology Program at Cleveland Clinic Cancer Center, highlights the importance of time management for patients undergoing scalp cooling.

The Orbis Paxman Hair Loss Prevention System (OPHLPS) must be worn for 30 minutes before, during, and 90 minutes after chemotherapy. Keeping the flow of patients through this extended time is an important job for the nurse.

Patients can wear the device for 30 minutes before chemotherapy while receiving any antiemetic medications. After chemotherapy, patients can be moved to the waiting room in order to free up the chair in the infusion suite.
