McCabe developed a method of care at MSK where nurse practitioners can independently and efficiently manage patients’ survivorship. They can effectively do this, McCabe says, thanks to their skills and focus on wellness, rehabilitation, and recovery.
As the role of the nurse practitioner grows, it is also important to practice shared care and facilitate communication among nurse practitioners, nurses, primary care physicians, and oncologists to ensure that patients get the best possible treatment.
