Casey says working with patients diagnosed with blood cancers is a space where there is more hope compared with other types of cancer. Specifically, she enjoys seeing patients return months after their treatments and receive news that they are in remission.
For patients with stage 4 disease, Casey reassures patients that they have a high likelihood of responding to treatment, especially rituximab. Casey adds chemotherapy treatments lack the stereotypes they once had, and patients should educate themselves on their treatment options.
