Year of the Nurse Highlights Nurses' Heroism

Video

The WHO's International Year of the Nurse and Midwife came with some additional challenges, as nurses everywhere put themselves at risk to care for patients during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Elizabeth Farrat, BSN, CCRN, was one of those nurses.

Farrat, a nurse at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, was the winner of CURE's "Finest Hour" award for exemplary nursing during the pandemic.

It is the year of the nurse. The nurses are the people who dove in, head first to care for people in deep, deep need, knowing that they could potentially be at risk, and many were at risk themselves, to provide life-saving care for patients. Yes, it is the year of the nurse.
