At the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, nurses have been using electronic medical records for three years, Gordils-Perez says. The nurses were the core group that developed the document to best fit their needs.

A multi-departmental team created a patient portal, Gordils-Perez says, and the Institute is still working on streamlining the process. The patient portal will also house survivorship information for patients, Gordils-Perez says.
