Samantha Ganey Aquino, MSN, AGPCNP-BC, from Laura and Isaac Perlmutter Cancer Center at NYU Langone Medical Center, discusses pain management for patients with cancer.

Many patients are quiet about pain, Aquino says, and take it as a given that cancer will cause them pain.

Aquino recommends that all nurses take advantage of every encounter with a patient and ask how he or she is feeling and verbalize that you care about his or her pain.
